Established in 1940, our client is Britain’s finest Shirt maker and famous for creating the original “Shirt with detachable spare collar”. This family owned business continue to sell men’s formal shirts and leisurewear via their stores, online and through their wholesale division as well as offering corporate wear through their career and workwear division. They now have a key opening for a Menswear Designer to join their design team based in Wakefield.
Reporting to the Operations Director, the key function of this role is to design and develop a range of Menswear which comprises of Formal Shirts, Leisure Shirts and Knitwear and will include packaging, branding and trim. There will also be some requirement to design for contract customers and the career and workwear division.
Responsibilities will include research and development of key seasonal trends, production of range profile, design and/or selection of fabrics using Tex Design C.A.D software, designing graphic prints – full repeats and placement, producing range in line with brand ID and pricing structures, producing full manufacturing product specifications and artworks for branded trims and packaging. You will present design work both in-house and to customers, work to timescales and production calendars and maintain close communication with all relevant departments, maintaining detailed records.
The role requires a talented, versatile designer, ideally with a minimum of 1-2 years relevant commercial experience in a fashion design role. You must be proficient in Office and Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop with a good knowledge of Garment Construction and a Degree in Fashion/Textiles or equivalent. You must be independent and capable of working on your own initiative, be self-motivated with strong communication skills.
